Depop, the shopping community where creatives come to buy, sell, discover and explore inspiring and unique things, just unveiled its first physical space — in the heart of Los Angeles’ art scene — Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. There will also be a new space opening soon in New York.

The space has a mix of retail, office and workspaces where visitors will be invited to discover things to buy, meet the team, and learn about the Depop platform.

There will be workshops to learn how to style fashion and lifestyle photo shoots, source vintage clothing, build a brand and learn marketing skills.  The space will have new initiatives every week, including temporary shops and listing parties. A dedicated studio with professional photography equipment will be available to support new and existing sellers.

We want to make Depop the place of choice to buy and sell unique items while discovering the most inspiring people.

Depop’s founder, Simon Beckerman

To celebrate the launch, Depop will be presenting the Best of LA capsule collection, a curated selection of pieces from some of its most successful sellers. Visitors can buy items and meet some of the most popular sellers on the platform.

The Best of LA will be on display between March 24 – April 15, on the app, and in the Depop space.

LA is our fastest growing market so it makes sense to launch the beta version of our Depop Space here. It will be a mix of work desks, a photography studio and a shop. A truly multifunctional place for our community to come together, learn and share experiences.

New video feature in the Depop app

Depop also announced a new video feature in their platform this week, which they are celebrating with a new campaign: “Don’t Stay Still.” The campaign video was directed by Energy Force, the duo behind the music video of Nilufer Yanya’s “Thanks 4 Nothing”, recently featured on Dazed Magazine.

The campaign showcases over forty real Depop creative entrepreneurs from the US and UK.

Among them is Sophia a 22 year old from Brixton, London, known as sofire94 on Depop. Sophia started out selling clothes to her friends to supplement her income and now specialises in sourcing ‘90s and ‘00s pieces.

Another community member featured in the campaign is Jemar Michael from LA, also known for his portrayal of Al on the Netflix series Dear White People. Jemar uses his Depop shop to sell a mix of one-off red carpet pieces and stickers.
