David joined Balderton as a General Partner in early 2020. He was previously at SoftBank, where he was a founding member of the global investment team and a founding Partner for SoftBank’s Vision Fund.
While at SoftBank, David invested in, and worked with, some of the most innovative and visionary founders in technology globally, and supported them as they grew into market-leading companies. David led investments in Didi Chuxing, the world’s leading mobile transportation platform (NYSE:DIDI); Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading superapp; Ola, India’s leading ride-sharing platform; Lemonade, the digital insurance company (NASDAQ: LMND); SoFi, the American online personal finance platform (NYSE:SOFI); and Kabbage, one of the leading US SMB lending platforms (acquired by American Express).
David was also involved in SoftBank’s investments in 99 in Brazil (bought by Didi) and Legendary Pictures in the US (acquired by the Wanda Group for $3.5B).
Before joining SoftBank, David had a 10-year tenure at Google, where he worked on partnerships for products that touched billions of users, including leading global product and business partnerships for Google’s Android platform.
